Everything happens for a reason - Woltemade reflects on Bayern transfer falling through - Soccer News
"When I realised that [the transfer to Bayern] probably wasn't going to happen, I said to myself: Okay, then so be it. Everything in life has a purpose,"
"The perfect example of this is the failed Bayern transfer: I'm now really happy to be in Newcastle."
"That wouldn't have happened otherwise. In hindsight, I'm happy that it turned out that way. I believe that everything happens for a reason."
"Then I had some very good conversations with Eddie Howe, who is just a great person, and afterwards I immediately felt: I'm going to do it! In the end, everything happened quite quickly."
Nick Woltemade joined Newcastle United for a club-record £69m (€78m) from Stuttgart at the end of the summer transfer window. Bayern Munich pursued him earlier but did not meet Stuttgart's valuation, so that transfer collapsed. Woltemade accepted the outcome and says he is happy to be at Newcastle and believes everything happens for a reason. His agent told him about Newcastle while he was at home in Stuttgart, and positive conversations with manager Eddie Howe convinced him to move. He has seven goals in 21 appearances but only one in his last ten games and scored an own goal in a 1-0 loss to Sunderland.
