Goalkeeper Daniel made three saves for his fifth clean sheet of the season and San Jose's first shutout since May 28. Defenders Daniel Munie, Reid Roberts and Max Floriani anchored a stingy defense that limited San Diego chances; Onni Valakari missed a point-blank attempt in the 37th minute. The Earthquakes moved into a Western Conference playoff spot with 38 points, level with FC Dallas, while San Jose has two matches remaining and Dallas has a match in hand. Attendance was 29,437.
