Tony Docherty has returned to Aberdeen to strengthen Peter Leven's interim management team. Sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel indicated a permanent appointment should be announced imminently while bringing Docherty in to assist during the interim period. Docherty previously joined Aberdeen in 2013, spent eight years at Pittodrie, served as Derek McInnes' number two at Kilmarnock, and had managerial spells at Dundee and Ross County before his December sacking. Eirik Horneland emerged as a leading candidate to replace Jimmy Thelin, but Aberdeen have not confirmed whether Horneland can take the job before summer. Leven welcomed Docherty's experience for upcoming matches.
