Chivu lauds five-star Inters show of maturity in Torino thrashing - Soccer News
"We worked hard and the lads gave a great response, they are trying to leave the past behind them and this was a show of maturity,"
"From the first day of training, the players have embraced what they need to do, got their heads down, and that is why they were in such good shape today."
"It was not to be taken for granted after a complicated summer without much time to prepare."
Inter began their Serie A season with a 5-0 victory over Torino under new coach Cristian Chivu. Alessandro Bastoni opened the scoring in the 18th minute, Marcus Thuram scored just before half-time and added a second after the break, and Lautaro Martinez scored seven minutes into the second half. Ange-Yoan Bonny finished on his league debut in the 72nd minute. The win was only the third five-goal opening triumph in club history. Inter recorded 20 shots with an expected goals (xG) of 1.62, compared with Torino's 12 shots and 0.98 xG.
