Federico Chiesa produced a man-of-the-match performance in a 2-1 Carabao Cup win, providing assists for Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike. Isak and Ekitike cost a combined £200 million, and £100m signing Florian Wirtz plus rising 17-year-old Rio Ngumoha increased squad competition. Chiesa arrived as last summer's sole signing and remains determined to compete for a place rather than move for an easier life.
