Chelsea won a west London derby against Fulham aided by significant VAR interventions. A Joshua King effort that looked to give Fulham the lead was overturned after VAR identified a foul by Rodrigo Muniz on Trevoh Chalobah during the build-up. João Pedro scored on the stroke of half-time to extend his positive start at Chelsea. Fulham conceded a penalty for a Ryan Sessegnon handball while blocking a cross, which Enzo Fernández converted. Fulham have now conceded three penalties in as many Premier League matches, drawing visible frustration from manager Marco Silva.
A João Pedro header and an Enzo Fernández penalty helped Chelsea get the better of their west London neigbours Fulham in a match dominated by interventions from the video assistant referee (VAR) on Saturday. Joshua King thought he had given the visitors the lead in the first half before the VAR recommended the goal be overturned due to a foul on Trevoh Chalobah by Rodrigo Muniz in the build-up.
Pedro continued his good start to life at Chelsea with a goal on the stoke of half-time before Fulham boss Marco Silva was further incensed by the decision to award the hosts a penalty for a handball by Ryan Sessegnon as he attempted to block a cross. Enzo Fernandez duly converted from the penalty which remarkably was the third Fulham have conceded in as many Premier League games this season.
