Carter to head Spirit ops, Rodman 'top priority'
"If it ain't broke, break it, because the only way it's going to get better is if we're constantly pushing the envelope."
"What Michele is doing is unprecedented in women's soccer,"
"The investment in a global ecosystem is incredible ... That kind of transformational investment and leadership is what our sport needs. To have the opportunity to be part of that vision, it really stood out to me."
Haley Carter is the Washington Spirit's new president of soccer operations, officially starting Monday. Carter previously guided the Orlando Pride to the 2024 NWSL Shield and NWSL Championship, transforming a long-struggling club into a trophy-winning team. Carter performed day-to-day operations and handled roster transactions in a role akin to a traditional general manager. Spirit owner Michele Kang is investing in a global ecosystem of clubs and pursuing innovative, transformational leadership. Nathan Minion was promoted from interim to full-time general manager after serving since March. The Spirit finished as runners-up for both NWSL trophies again in 2025.
