In a statement, Priestman said she had decided to voluntarily withdraw from the match against New Zealand on Thursday. 'On behalf of our entire team, I first and foremost want to apologise to the players and staff at New Zealand Football and to the players on Team Canada. This does not represent the values that our team stands for,' Priestman said.
The Canadian Olympic Committee stated that unaccredited analyst Joseph Lombardi and assistant coach Jasmine Mander were removed from the team and sent home following the spying incident involving a drone flown over New Zealand's training session. Lombardi was also given a suspended eight-month prison sentence.
