'Brilliant' Belloumi turns Jakirovic's displeasure into delight
"He joined the East Yorkshire club from Portuguese outfit Farense in August 2024 and enjoyed a decent start only for an anterior cruciate ligament injury at Oxford in November to end his season. By the time he returned to action last August the club had sacked both Tim Walter and his replacement Ruben Selles and brought in Jakirovic. Understandably after such a serious injury it took him time to get back up to speed and two hamstring injuries have kept him out for four months of this campaign."
Mohamed Belloumi entered Hull City’s second leg at Millwall just before half-time due to an injury to Kyle Joseph. His introduction initially frustrated his manager and teammates, but he quickly changed the game. He scored a superb curling strike after a long goal drought and then won the ball back in his own half, drove forward, and teed up Joe Gelhardt for the second goal. Belloumi’s performance made Hull City set up a play-off final on 23 May against either Southampton or Middlesbrough. His recent period has been disrupted by an anterior cruciate ligament injury, subsequent managerial changes, and hamstring injuries that limited his availability.
