BREAKING: Tuchel says he is 'happy and proud' after signing England extension
"I am very happy and proud to extend my time with England. It is no secret to anyone that I have loved every minute so far of working with my players and coaches, and I cannot wait to lead them to the World Cup. It is an incredible opportunity and we are going to do our very best to make the country proud."
"I have had so much support from Mark [FA CEO Mark Bullingham], all my colleagues at the FA and from fans wherever I go that I did not hesitate when asked to continue in this dream job. Euro 2028 will be a very special tournament and as a coach there is nothing more you want than to compete with the very best on the biggest possible stage."
Thomas Tuchel has signed a two-year contract extension as England head coach, extending his deal through to the 2028 European Championship. The new contract follows a deal that was due to expire after this summer's World Cup and came despite links to Manchester United. England will co-host Euro 2028 with Scotland, Wales and the Republic of Ireland. Tuchel expressed pride and eagerness to lead the team at the World Cup and to compete at Euro 2028. His core support staff—Anthony Barry, Henrique Hilário, Nico Mayer and James Melbourne—also signed contracts through summer 2028. Tuchel led qualification with eight wins from eight, 20 goals scored and zero conceded.
