During the Premier League match between Liverpool and Bournemouth, the game was paused at the 28th minute due to racist abuse reported by Antoine Semenyo. A 47-year-old man was ejected from the stadium after being identified by ground staff. Merseyside Police stated they would seek football banning orders against those responsible. Semenyo also faced racist comments on Instagram. Following the match, managers and the Bournemouth captain condemned the incident, labeling it as unacceptable and reflective of a larger issue in society.
We take incidents like this very seriously, and in cases like this we will be proactively seeking football banning orders, with the club, against those responsible.
It's unacceptable. It is something that is still a big problem, not just in football.
