Bayern Munich are pursuing a loan forward to bolster attacking depth before the transfer window closes after failing to secure several top targets. Bayern made three bids for Nick Woltemade from VfB Stuttgart but were rebuffed, and Stuttgart closed the door after the Franz Beckenbauer Cup. Newcastle United agreed a deal with Stuttgart for Woltemade worth a fixed fee close to €85 million plus €5 million in add-ons, and Woltemade is travelling to complete a medical. The 23-year-old will likely replace Aleksandar Isak at Newcastle. Bayern also appear set to miss out on Christopher Nkunku amid reports of an AC Milan move agreed with Chelsea.
However, the German forward is on his way to the Premier League. According to Sky Sports in Germany, Newcastle United have agreed a deal with Stuttgart for Woltemade. The Premier League side will be paying a fixed fee close to €85 million with €5 million in add-ons. Woltemade has also given the nod for this move as he travels to complete the medical this weekend.
Stuttgart are getting a much bigger fee than what they wanted from Bayern. They wanted close to €75 million from Die Roten. The defending Bundesliga champions were expected to return for him next summer, but it does look like the opportunity to play in the Champions League and Premier League has convinced Woltemade to make the move. The 23-year-old German forward will most likely replace Aleksandar Isak at Newcastle United.
