Arsenal overcame Crystal Palace on penalties after a 1-1 draw in normal time to reach the EFL Cup semi-finals against Chelsea. The Gunners dominated the first half but found Palace goalkeeper Walter Benitez in superb form. Palace improved in the second half, and Arsenal took the lead in the 80th minute when Maxence Lacroix inadvertently put through his own net from a corner. Marc Guehi levelled in the fifth minute of stoppage time. Lacroix then became the only player among 16 penalty takers to have his spot-kick saved, with Kepa Arrizabalaga diving to his right to send Arsenal through.
