Arrests after flares thrown in Europa League match
"We're currently investigating a series of reports from last night's match and are working closely with both clubs as part of this. This includes multiple reports of lit flares being thrown onto the pitch and at rival supporters. I can confirm one suspect has been arrested in connection with this, while two other people have been arrested on suspicion of separate offences too."
"Officers said they received multiple reports of small flares being lit by supporters in the away end during the Europa League knock out tie at the City Ground. The match was delayed for several minutes in the first half after multiple flares were thrown onto the pitch and had to be removed."
Three arrests were made following Nottingham Forest's Europa League home tie against Fenerbahce at the City Ground. Flares were thrown from the away end during the first half, causing the match to be delayed several minutes while they were removed from the pitch. A 37-year-old man was arrested after a flare was thrown toward the home end, a 44-year-old was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a steward and another man, and a 38-year-old was arrested for entering the playing area. Seating in the away end was damaged, and police are investigating multiple reports of lit flares and pyrotechnic use. Forest advanced 4-2 on aggregate.
