A backcountry skier, measuring 6'8â, suffered a broken femur while skiing near Castle Peak at 9,000 feet. The complex rescue operation involved a CALSTAR helicopter which dropped off paramedics, who then hiked up the steep terrain. Due to the challenging conditions, including it being nighttime, the Falcon 30 helicopter was called in for a hoist extraction.
