"Taking part in a World Cup race in Crans Montana, Vonn lost control while attempting to land a jump on the upper portion of the course and slid into the safety netting. After receiving medical attention for about five minutes, Vonn slowly skied to the finish line, using her poles to support herself and stopping twice to clutch her knee."
Lindsey Vonn crashed and injured her left knee during a World Cup downhill in Crans Montana while attempting to land a jump. Medical staff attended her for about five minutes and she skied to the finish line using poles and clutching her knee before receiving a long embrace from teammate Jacqueline Wiles and entering the medical tent. The race was held in low visibility and was canceled after her fall. Vonn, 41, was airlifted for further evaluation. She has returned to racing after nearly six years away, won two races this season with a partial knee implant, and hopes to compete in her fifth Olympics.
