Team Ireland's Special Olympic skiers continued their impressive performance by winning four additional medals in Sestriere, following five medals on Wednesday. Caolan McConville earned his second gold in two days, while other team members like Clive Healy and Lucy Best also shone, with Best particularly inspiring young athletes with her story of hard work and dedication. The athletes, despite training primarily on dry slopes in Ireland, displayed exceptional adaptability, with their sport director emphasizing their focus and determination during competitions.
"More bling" exclaimed Peadar McConville as his son, Caolan took home a second gold medal on the slopes in as many days.
Reacting to her result, Lucy Best (32) said: "I feel amazing, I'm so glad I got another gold medal, I'm just really pleased... I did it for my friends, but more importantly I did it for all my supporters, and my dad - I'm making him proud!"
Máire Connelly (20) from Galway added a bronze medal to Wednesday's gold, with proud mother, Ber insisting it was all down to practice."
