I compared ski trips in Colorado and Italy's Dolomites. One feels like a party, while the other is better for serious skiers.
Briefly

After several seasons of snowboarding in Colorado, I vacationed in the Dolomites of Italy. While both locations have their appeal, the costs in Italy were significantly lower, with lift tickets around $70 compared to $250 in Colorado. Additionally, the Dolomites showcased unique landscapes with jagged peaks and stunning color changes at sunrise and sunset. The vibrant ski culture in Italy, characterized by music and a lively atmosphere, provided an exhilarating experience that contrasted sharply with the ski scene in Colorado, making the Dolomites a well-rounded option despite my preference for Colorado's slopes.
In Italy, lift tickets were drastically cheaper. My ticket was just over $70 a day, whereas popular resorts like Breckenridge, Vail, and Snowmass have tickets closer to $250.
The Dolomites’ mountain terrain boasted 18 jagged peaks, offering stunning views that felt immersive unlike Colorado, where I often felt just an observer of the mountains.
Italy's ski culture was vibrant and exhilarating, with music and crowds that created a lively atmosphere, contrasting with the typical experience found in Colorado.
After doing quick math, I realized that traveling all the way to Italy to snowboard in the Dolomites was cheaper than a weekend in Aspen.
