A scandal erupted in winter sports after a video revealed illegal alterations to ski jumping suits by Norway's team, involving head coach Magnus Brevig. Initially, the team denied wrongdoing after two athletes, Marius Lindvik and Johann Andre Forfang, were disqualified during the Nordic World Championships. However, they later admitted to tampering with the suits to enhance performance. This incident has reignited discussions about regulations surrounding ski jumping equipment, reminiscent of past disqualifications in high-stakes competitions. The Norwegian Ski Association responded by suspending key personnel involved, underscoring the seriousness of the violations.
What we have done is to manipulate or modify the suits so that they break the rules. It was a deliberate act, and consequently it's cheating.
It seems to have been clarified that Brevig and Livelten decided on Friday evening to sew an additional and stiffer thread into Forfang and Lindvik's jump suits.
