"The resort received between 6 and 10 inches of snow during this week's storm, according to Patrick Lacey, a spokesperson for Palisades Tahoe. "That's looking pretty good, especially this time of year," Lacey said. He added that this first round of snow will likely melt soon, but that's a good thing for the rest of the season: The snow will seep into the ground and freeze as colder temperatures hit the mountain, leaving a frozen base for new snow to stick onto."
"Farther south at Heavenly Mountain Resort, lifts are set to open on Nov. 21. Ski resort behemoth Vail Resorts, which owns Heavenly, announced its opening date along with the opening dates of other ski resorts the company owns across the American West, Switzerland and British Columbia. Its other Tahoe-area resorts, Northstar California Resort and Kirkwood Mountain Resort, are slated to open their lifts on Nov. 21 and Dec. 5, respectively."
A storm system delivered the season's first significant snowfall to the Sierra Nevada, with 6 to 10 inches at Palisades Tahoe. Palisades Tahoe plans to open lifts on Nov. 26 and upgraded trails with new snowmaking fan guns, air compressors and lift access gates. Heavenly Mountain Resort will open Nov. 21, with sister resorts Northstar California Resort on Nov. 21 and Kirkwood Mountain Resort on Dec. 5. Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe is set to open Nov. 8, benefiting from higher elevation. Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort will open Nov. 28 with opening-day festivities. All opening dates remain subject to weather-related change.
