Deborah and Greg Lapp, after years in their previous home, found their dream property while kayaking in California. Frustrated after a year of searching, they stumbled upon a plot for sale. They envisioned their new home designed by architect Arthur Dyson, incorporating key elements like a grand piano and a dining table to create a serene living space. Their journey reflects a blend of serendipity and careful planning, resulting in a picturesque sanctuary in California's valleys.
We searched for a year and couldn't find any land or any place to build, until one day, we were kayaking down the river and saw the back of a 'For Sale' sign.
We had two pieces of furniture that we knew we wanted to have up here: a dining table and then the 6-foot grand piano. So the house was built around those two pieces a little bit.
