Residents preferred low-density housing over high-density apartments for the potential redevelopment of the old Pleasant Hills Golf Course site in San Jose.
Lakeside Community, headed by Tony Arreola and Mark Lazzarini, aims to transform the 114-acre site that has been vacant since the closure of the golf course two decades ago.
The community prioritized new market-rate homes and emphasized homeownership, aligning with the state mandate for San Jose to develop 62,000 housing units in the next eight years.
Residents' preferences were influenced by the nature and characteristics of the Lake Cunningham area during community engagements with city officials and developers.
