Two big data centers may sprout in San Jose to help meet AI tech boom
Briefly

Two significant data center projects are proposed in San Jose at 350 West Trimble Road, which is owned by an LBA Realty affiliate. This location, near Microsoft’s data center site, could transform the area into a data village. Previously, LBA Realty had plans for a mixed-use project known as North Town, featuring offices, hotels, shops, and restaurants. However, the COVID-19 pandemic led to widespread business shutdowns, halting many developments across the Bay Area, including projects at this prime site.
Development of data centers is the latest plan to be floated for the site, which is owned by an affiliate of LBA Realty, a veteran Bay Area real estate firm.
If this project is approved, this section of north San Jose could become akin to a data village in the Bay Area's largest city.
In 2019, LBA Realty proposed a village of office spaces, hotel rooms, shops and restaurants on the site. Known as North Town, the mixed-use development would have been a game-changer for that part of San Jose.
Then came the coronavirus outbreak of 2020, which prompted state and local government agencies to order wide-ranging business shutdowns to combat the spread of the deadly bug.
