Scott Vincent Borba, co-founder of e.l.f. Cosmetics, is preparing for ordination as a Catholic priest after leaving his fortune and entering seminary. He previously moved through celebrity and luxury circles, describing that period as marked by excess and pride. As a deacon and seminarian at St. Patrick's Seminary in Menlo Park, he now lives in a sparse room with minimal possessions. Born in San Jose and educated at Santa Clara University, he is scheduled to be ordained May 23 in Visalia by the Diocese of Fresno. His path is uncommon because the average age for new priests is 33, and only a small percentage of seminarians are over 50. A theology professor said his story could inspire people and help bring others to know Christ.
