Construction to start on veterans housing project
Briefly

A $35 million affordable housing development aimed at veterans has begun construction on a 2.137-acre site in Menlo Park, California. Managed by MidPen Housing, the project will include 62 apartments, primarily reserved for homeless veterans. With anticipated completion by spring 2026, the project underscores issues of veteran homelessness, as 12% of the county's homeless population are veterans. The development will offer below-market rents and supportive services, addressing the challenges posed by the high cost of housing in the Bay Area, particularly for recently reintegrated veterans.
Seeing that the ground has been broken, it really is a testament to what we can do in partnership with the federal government, the state, the county, and the city.
The current housing market in the Bay Area makes it almost impossible for someone just coming out of a program like the Homeless Veteran's Reintegration Program to find a place to live.
