California Forever, after abandoning its plans for a new city in eastern Solano County, is now exploring a shipbuilding facility on Delta waterfront property. This change comes in response to potential federal tax incentives and infrastructure funding from the Trump administration. Previously allied with Suisun City's council, the group faced challenges due to the County's growth ordinance. They now seek to leverage 14 acres of waterfront land for this new endeavor, reflecting a significant pivot in their strategy as they adjust to political and economic realities.
"Solano County is uniquely positioned to answer the call for rebuilding our nation's naval power," they said. "Developing shipbuilding, ship repair, and related maritime industry is a critical need."
The group, previously focused on establishing a utopian city, now seeks to pivot and create a shipbuilding hub due to potential tax incentives from the Trump administration.
