In a taste test of chocolate chip cookies from three national chains: Mrs. Fields, Crumbl, and Insomnia, Insomnia Cookies emerged as the family favorite. Mrs. Fields, despite being the most established brand, had the least appealing cookie, described as too small and a bit gummy inside. Crumbl's cookie was enjoyable but didn't impress as much this time around. Ultimately, Insomnia's version won due to its warm, chewy texture and perfect chocolate chip balance, making it a delicious treat for the kids.
The cookie from Mrs. Fields was the smallest of the three I tried but also the least expensive ($2). Perfectly round and evenly cooked, I thought it looked like a slightly larger version of a chewy Chips Ahoy cookie. Nothing was unappetizing about its appearance, but it was easily the least exciting of the three.
However, I found the inside was soft and a bit gummy, which I didn't love. It also had the smallest portion of chocolate chips of the three we tried. My kids were careful to note that they loved all three cookies, but we all ranked this one as our least favorite.
The Crumbl cookie was good, but I prefer the brand's other flavors. The cookie was soft and had a nice balance of sweetness and chocolate, but it simply didnât stand out as much as I remembered from previous visits.
The cookie from Insomnia Cookies was definitely my favorite. It was warm and had a great chewiness that made it feel indulgent. The balance of chocolate chips was perfect and added to the overall deliciousness.
