Hundreds of fans welcome Hello Kitty and her new cafe
Briefly

The opening of the first Hello Kitty cafe in Northern California attracted large crowds, with 500 people waiting in line by 9 a.m. on opening day. Fans of all ages gathered for the chance to meet and take selfies with Hello Kitty. Early arrivals included Mark Frye, who waited almost a day to secure a first customer gift. Emily Carrasco, another fan, showed up dressed in Hello Kitty gear and purchased cafe treats. The character's 50-year history contributes to its widespread appeal across generations.
The first in line was Mark Frye, 49, who showed up almost a day early... in hopes of scoring the 'first customer' gift of an afternoon tea experience for his daughter and niece.
Emily Carrasco, 19, who was decked out in Kitty gear she had purchased during HK cafe truck visits to the Bay Area... managed to buy a bag of goodies - macarons, a jumbo decorated cookie and more.
