West Valley cities team up to consider homeless shelter - San Jose Spotlight
Briefly

The West Valley area faces significant challenges with homelessness, having limited resources for approximately 221 residents living on the streets. Local leaders from Cupertino, Saratoga, Monte Sereno, Campbell, and Los Gatos are evaluating the potential for a shelter through a feasibility study funded by Campbell’s allocation from the American Rescue Plan. The study will explore options such as seasonal shelters and transitional housing, alongside required mental health services. Mayor Sergio Lopez believes tackling homelessness is achievable with concerted regional efforts, as municipalities already provide some resources for the homeless population.
"With a strategy in collaboration and tailored policy solutions, we can actually really get down to functional zero."
