San Jose Jazz receives $600K gift from ASML for education programs
"This game-changing gift from ASML will allow us to deepen our impact in the community and reach even more young people through the power of jazz education. This commitment to our community demonstrates a shared understanding that music education is essential for developing creative, confident, and collaborative young people."
"ASML, which has offices in San Jose, makes lithographic machines for semiconductor manufacturers. But it also has a pretty good side gig of inspiring art and creativity in Silicon Valley students through its support of San Jose Jazz's youth and education programs."
ASML, a semiconductor lithography equipment manufacturer with offices in San Jose, donated $600,000 over three years to San Jose Jazz's youth and education programs. The grant enables the organization to expand its reach from 3,500 to 5,000 students per year. San Jose Jazz operates multiple programs including Progressions, which provides music instruction to Franklin-McKinley School District students, a two-week Summer Jazz Camp for middle and high school students, and the High School All Stars audition-based performance band. A ceremony at the Hammer Theatre Center featured performances by Mariachi Azteca and Ballet Folklorico Los Lupenos, with approximately 500 fifth-graders in attendance. The donation reflects ASML's commitment to community development through music education.
