Philbrick: Silicon Valley is leading a transportation revolution - San Jose Spotlight
Briefly

Silicon Valley is a hub of American innovation, especially in transportation. San Jose is central to a transformation in mobility, focusing on personalized, efficient options. Waymo has been authorized to introduce autonomous vehicles in the city, promoting safety with significant reductions in crashes. Additionally, the San Jose Connection Partners have received support for the Diridon-Airport Connector project. This initiative will feature on-demand electric Glydcars on dedicated pathways, enhancing connectivity and sustainability in urban transport, and significantly reducing congestion at the airport.
The fully electric vehicles are available 24/7 and, of the millions of rides thus far, boast impressive safety stats compared to the average human driver. These include 88% fewer serious vehicle crashes and 93% fewer pedestrian crashes with injuries.
This ADA-compliant system will be able to move "thousands of passengers per hour, per direction, offering 24/7 service with zero emissions," thus providing much-needed, cost-effective relief to our growing airport and related congestion.
