The site remained vacant since 2023 after InterVenn canceled its 10-year lease. xAI is scouting for a larger Bay Area office, and combined office needs could approach 400,000 square feet. Neuralink, founded in 2016, develops brain-computer interfaces for paralyzed patients and received U.S. approval for human trials in 2023. The first implant recipient, Noland Arbaugh, gained control of a computer cursor and video games and now conducts everyday digital tasks by thought.
