"Last December, the U.S. Department of Justice released its first batch of files on disgraced financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Among the thousands of images was one video clip, the only one in the lot. It showed four seconds of the noted psychologist and writer Steven Pinker of Harvard University riding with Epstein on his now infamous private plane."
"The financier widely courted pundits, politicians and billionaires, as the DOJ files confirm with photographs of everyone from Mick Jagger to Bill Clinton to Donald Trump appearing with him. (None are accused of wrongdoing.) A piano virtuoso, mysteriously wealthy and famously ingratiating, Epstein courted scientists for years, leading to investigations at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard, the results of which were made public in 2020."
The U.S. Department of Justice released a batch of Jeffrey Epstein files that included a unique four-second video showing Steven Pinker riding on Epstein's private plane. Steven Pinker said the flight was unpleasant and that he immediately disliked Epstein, calling him a dilettante and a smartass. Epstein cultivated relationships with pundits, politicians, billionaires and scientists, appearing in photographs with high-profile figures. Investigations at MIT and Harvard examined Epstein's connections to academics, with results published in 2020. Additional email releases implicated prominent scholars such as Lawrence Krauss and Noam Chomsky. A reported cache of 5.2 million files remains pending release.
