On Friday morning, unusual bright lights were reported in the Bay Area, causing confusion among residents. Many thought it might be an apocalypse, but the phenomenon was identified as a SpaceX launch of 23 Starlink satellites from Vandenberg Space Force Base. The clear sky conditions allowed residents to vividly see the rocket's illumination, which was described as a 'luminescent blueish-white light.' ABC7 News meteorologist Drew Tuma confirmed the sighting and provided information about the launch shortly after it occurred.
It was like this bright, luminescent blueish-white light that was coming. You could see something moving.
It was just completely bizarre because that stretch of 280 rarely has any light, so it was just complete darkness.
I heard Drew Tuma say something like 'Oh, it's a SpaceX launch,' so it kind of calmed my nerves a little bit.
Those clear skies allowed us to see the SpaceX rocket launch earlier this morning at 6:07.
