SpaceX criticized FAA administrator Mike Whitaker for making incorrect statements regarding licensing challenges, claiming the fines imposed were retaliatory and unfounded.
While addressing Congress, FAA Administrator Whitaker emphasized that safety is paramount, stating, 'It's the only tool we have to get compliance on safety matters.'
SpaceX rebutted Whitaker's assertion that they launched without a permit, clarifying, 'SpaceX was fully licensed to launch the Falcon missions for which the FAA has, incorrectly, alleged non-compliances.'
Despite Starship being ready since August, the FAA has delayed approval until possibly November, as SpaceX prepares for its sixth flight.
