This year's annular solar eclipse, also known as the ring of fire, offered a spectacular view in Chile and Argentina, while others worldwide enjoyed partial glimpses.
NASA reports that solar eclipses occur two to four times a year, but the full eclipse, known as the path of totality, is only seen from a narrow region.
The solar eclipse on October 3 marked the last one of 2024, with the next total ring of fire not occurring until February 17, 2026.
While the path of totality was strictly between 265 to 331 kilometers wide, areas outside this path could still appreciate a partial eclipse effect.
