Comet 3I/ATLAS is the third known interstellar object to enter the solar system, detected on July 1, 2025. It is approximately 670 million kilometers from the sun and poses no threat to Earth, with the closest approach at about 240 million kilometers. The comet is around 20 kilometers wide and traveling at about 60 kilometers per second. Scientists are currently analyzing its velocity and trajectory for accurate future predictions, as normal cometary activity has begun to be observed with this object.
