Rocket Report: SLS workforce cuts; New Glenn launch to launch in the early fall
Briefly

SaxaVord Spaceport in Scotland is on track to launch the United Kingdom's first vertical rocket into orbit, with plans to launch up to 30 rockets annually. This milestone follows the site's spaceport license approval in December 2023, demonstrating progress towards shaping the future of orbital launch operations.
"As Western Europe's only fully licensed vertical launch spaceport, we are now preparing to make more space history with the beginning of orbital launch operations well underway," said Frank Strang, chief executive of SaxaVord Spaceport. Rocket Factory Augsburg from Germany may be the first to conduct an orbital mission from Shetland, marking a significant step for the spaceport's operational readiness and potential international collaborations.
Rocket Lab's recent launch of NEONSAT-1 and a NASA solar sail experiment on the fifth Electron flight of the year highlights the company's consistent mission success and capability to deliver diverse payloads into space. This achievement underlines Rocket Lab's growing presence in the small satellite launch market and importance in advancing space science with collaborative projects like NASA's solar sail experiment.
