European Vega-C rocket launches after two-year gap DW 12/06/2024
Briefly

"Piloting is calm and the parameters on board are normal," said Jean-Frederic Alasa, Range Operations Manager, indicating a successful launch sequence just moments into the mission.
The Vega-C rocket, an evolution of the original Vega, can now carry over two tonnes and offers enhanced capabilities, including a greater payload and flexibility in orbital placement.
According to the European Space Agency, Copernicus is the world's largest Earth observation system, harnessing an extensive radar data repository through its 12 families of Sentinel satellites.
The successful launch of Vega-C marks a pivotal moment for Europe, as the continent must rely on its own capabilities due to disruptions in access to previous Russian space vehicles.
