AI Tool of the Week: How UK's digiLab is building AI for the planet's largest coral restoration project - Silicon Canals
Briefly

digiLab is partnering with King Abdullah University of Science and Technology to develop an AI digital twin platform that supports the KAUST Coral Restoration Initiative. This initiative, the largest of its kind globally, focuses on using AI to enhance coral monitoring and restoration efforts over a 100-hectare area in the Red Sea. The project aims to improve coral resilience by addressing heat tolerance and growth, facilitating fast-tracked reef restoration and conservation. Ultimately, the collaboration seeks to establish new standards for coral restoration on a global scale.
The AI integration is led by digiLab co-founder, Dr. Anhad Sandhu, focusing on using advanced AI solutions to change how coral restoration is conducted.
This initiative, part of the KAUST Coral Restoration Initiative (KCRI), will use AI to improve coral monitoring and restoration in the Red Sea.
DigiLab is using AI tools to enhance environmental sensors across coral reefs, providing accurate data on temperature and light essential for coral survival.
The partnership aims to create a new standard for global coral restoration efforts by developing AI-driven models for conservation.
