A rude awakening
Briefly

A crew wakes up from stasis on Trappist-457b to discover they have undergone physical modifications, including respiratory appendages for survival. The AI caretaker, Alexis, explains that the planet lacks solid landmasses, consisting instead of floating algal structures in oxygen-rich water. This environment presents unique challenges, such as limited stability for infrastructure and storms. The modifications made were aimed at ensuring long-term survival and adapting to the planet's biodiversity and ecology. Alexis reveals that these changes were deemed necessary for survival in the new aquatic surroundings.
There is no solid landmass. What we believed to be small islands are, in fact, algae-like structures that float at the surface of the oceans.
The ocean water contains high levels of oxygen compared with the atmosphere.
The floating algal islands offer limited stability for housing and infrastructure especially during storms - which are common.
Upon arrival, I followed first-contact protocols and sent out surface probes to perform a planet-wide sweep.
