The San Jose Sharks placed forward Nathan Todd on unconditional waivers for the purpose of contract termination, a source confirmed to ESPN on Tuesday.
Todd, 28, spent the entire previous season with the Sharks' AHL affiliate, the Barracuda, and led the team with 55 points in 69 games.
Todd was entering the second year of a two-year, two-way contract with the Sharks, which would have paid him $200,000 in the AHL and $775,000 in the NHL for the upcoming season.
Todd's contract termination marks the second time in five months that the Sharks, agreeing mutually with a player, have ended a deal. Defenseman Leon Gawanke also left to play in Germany earlier in the year.
