Logan Couture, captain of the San Jose Sharks, will announce the end of his playing career due to injury during an upcoming press conference. Although he wonât officially retire and will remain on long-term injured reserve, this marks the conclusion of a distinguished career with the Sharks. He has battled osteitis pubis and only played six games last season. Couture, a key figure in the franchise's history, concludes with 323 goals and 701 points, ranking fourth all-time in Sharks' points behind notable players like Patrick Marleau.
Couture, who has been dealing with osteitis pubis, an inflammation between the left and right pubic bones, was a perennial playoff performer despite the Sharks' lack of a Stanley Cup.
San Jose general manager Mike Grier will be joined by Couture, 36, a 2007 first-round pick of the Sharks, who spent this entire season on LTIR.
