Sea creatures put on 'quite a show' off California coast. See 'gentle giants'

Monterey Bay Whale Watch reported the presence of 41 humpback whales, who entertained by pec-slapping and interacting closely with their calves. Meanwhile, onlookers also spotted 20 Risso's dolphins. Humpback whales, known as "gentle giants," exhibit protective behaviors towards their young and can be seen laying on their sides to display their fins in an entertaining manner. This event brought excitement to the Monterey area, about 120 miles south of San Francisco.
On May 2, humpback whales sprung into "action" by breaching and exhibiting feeding behaviors, according to a Facebook post by Monterey Bay Whale Watch.
The "gentle giants" were spotted pec-slapping, which is when a whale will lay on its side and raise its pectoral fin into the sky before slamming it into the water.
