Yaroslav Askarov has been assigned to the Barracuda after recovering from a lower-body injury, missing all of the Sharks' training camp.
The Sharks, having acquired Askarov and others from the Predators, are now left with just two goalies in camp: Mackenzie Blackwood and Vitek Vanecek.
Askarov is expected to practice with the Barracuda, but will not participate in their preseason game against Bakersfield.
The trade that brought Askarov involved sending a first-round pick to Nashville, highlighting the Sharks' commitment to building for the future.
