San Jose Earthquakes head coach Bruce Arena has cautioned fans about the rebuilding phase as they prepare for their 2025 MLS season opener against Real Salt Lake. After a tough previous season finishing last in the league with only 21 points and the worst defense, Arena acknowledges that improvement will require time and patience. Real Salt Lake, who performed better last season, aims to enhance their gameplay after a goalless draw in the Concacaf Champions Cup as they also prepare for their MLS opener.
Arena emphasized, "It's been about four weeks now we've been together, and it's a new way of doing things. It's going to take some time, it won't all be ready for the first game."
Mastroeni reflected on RSL's Concacaf performance, stating, "Hopefully, we can sharpen up our passing, our decision-making, and put together a complete game where we score a goal but defend like we did in our last match."
