How a diver recovered 3 bodies from a deadly, 'brutal' Calif. waterfall
Briefly

Volunteer diver Juan Heredia undertook a challenging three-hour hike in stormy conditions to recover the bodies of three men who drowned at Rattlesnake Falls. After a previous search was halted, a friend of the victims contacted Heredia, who has a long history of assisting in similar recoveries across the country. Originally from Argentina, he started diving 30 years ago and has spent recent years helping families locate their loved ones in frigid waters. Heredia understands both the physical challenges of diving in such conditions and the emotional impact on families.
"They were asking me if I can go and help to find them," Heredia said in a phone interview on Monday with SFGATE.
"I know the water, I know how cold that is under the water," Heredia said. "I can imagine somebody being there for a long time."
