Marc-Edouard Vlasic recently shared his disappointment regarding the San Jose Sharks buying out the final year of his contract. He played 1323 games over 19 seasons with the team, and was the last player from its 'golden era' following Logan Couture's retirement. Vlasic believed he would return for the upcoming season, as the Sharks had praised his on-ice performance and mentorship role. Despite expressing some discontent, he indicated he is ready to join any NHL team and is open to various opportunities in the league.
They told me I played well, especially defensively, and that they liked me serving as a mentor for the younger players. They told me they wanted me to do that next year, so when I left, I told myself I was going to come back.
I wasn't interested in going back there for another season.
It doesn't bother me whether it's Vancouver, Buffalo, Florida, Tampa. I'll go wherever someone wants me.
