The Giants announced on Friday that Winn will undergo season-ending surgery - ulnar nerve transposition in Los Angeles, finishing his sophomore season with a 7.16 ERA in 12 starts.
In more encouraging news, right-hander Alex Cobb is scheduled to make a rehab start with Single-A San Jose on Friday after recovering from offseason hip surgery and a lingering right shoulder issue.
