SF Giants infielder details frustrating injury: 'Feels like you're getting stabbed'
Briefly

San Francisco Giants infielder Tyler Fitzgerald has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a fractured rib, expected to be sidelined for at least two weeks. The injury occurred during a game on April 25 and was initially thought to be a bruised bone. Fitzgerald attempted to play through the pain but eventually required an MRI which confirmed the fracture. He performed well prior to the injury but is now replaced in the lineup by Brett Wisely and Christian Koss as the team adjusts.
"I tried to play through it, and it just kind of feels like you're getting stabbed on every little movement," Fitzgerald said.
"It hurts," Giants manager Bob Melvin said of Fitzgerald's injury. "... and then you get an MRI, you see what's going on there, and you appreciate him for trying to play and gut it out."
